Thanks Jim.
The ones with the redish cast came off a Nikon D80 fully over ridden to manual (exposure, flash and focus)
Flash Nikon SB-600 not connected to body (ran in slave mode) for fill flash.
Most exposures were in the 10 to 15 second range.
The ones with a greenish tint are off a Kodak Z1012 IS (point and shoot camera, forced into manual mode for exposure)
Nikon flash manually discharged, multiple flashes tripped across the vehicle with an exposure time in the 10 second range.
I went manual this time because metering and focus were found to be off on 50-75% of the shots from the last Meet & Greet.
To get the exposure I took the reading off the middle of the parking lot blacktop and shaved off a stop or two (f10 at 10-16 seconds). In most cases the flash brought the EV back up one stop (again just for fill or accent). Close into the lighted sign and entrance I remetered (f10 at 6-8 seconds)
Here's an example of the flash being used to fill the grill area and add a little sparkle to the head lights. The exposre time of 6 seconds helped maintain the look of ambient conditions even with a healthy flash output. The flash fall off is really problematic and lighting a Jeep short wheel base or Unlimited is just impossible (something I found out shooting the inside of the ROCO shop at thier recent block party).
In this shot you can see the output from the off camera flash in the bottom left corner (that was an oops)

Here's something more tangible with respects to going manual on the settings (Both shots no flash).
With camera automation (exposure bias of 4/3 stop down), from previous Meet & Greet night.
Shot at ISO 800, at f8 depth of field should have rendered this TJ in focus bumper to bumper but the door stickers are not crisp.
I'm sure the higher ISO doesn't really help either.
Shot fully manual from recent Meet & Greet.
Shot ISO 100, f7.1
Looks like some appearance upgrades were made by the driver between events.

The reddish imo gives a nice mood to the shot. Were you hand holding the 15 second range. They came out pretty steady. Fill flash is a pretty neat trick for the darker shadows. Many times I don't even use it any more because of software able to bring them out. I still use it in the real dark ones. That is one thing about taking shots and experimenting is the fun of coming out with a WOW shot.

Very brave with a point and shoot.

I do the same with f stop shaving, you can always bring darks out but you can never recover the highs.

I actually like shooting with no flash expecially when you have nice ambient.

Are you saying you stopped down on the camera exposure or flash stop down?
I have found that depending on the camera model the higher iso you go the more noise you introduce. Sometimes you have no choice especially when you need to get the shot. There are a couple of utilities that I use that really do well in taking out the noise, once done you can mask sharp afterword.

Excellent ambient.
Hey Bill, next time show us some Macro and have everyone guess on it.
If we keep this up we are going to get our hands slapped around here, maybe one day we should start a Photography 101 topic in Chit Chat.

Correct.. After a weekend at Jeep Beach and the 2 weeks prior getting the rig ready for Jeep Beach.. to say I am exhausted is an understatement. This week is also my clubs 9th anniversary on Thursday so I have alot of late night ahead of me. So no organized meet and greet tomorrow.
To make up for it, I am putting together cool stuff for next month... maybe another car crush as well.
