I have the kit installed and my steering radius is that of a 18 wheeler. I have checked the limiting bolts but it does not even turn to reach the bolts I would say it stops a good 1/2 inch from reaching the bolts. I know why it's doing this, I just don't know why or if it works for others. I'm using a Rubicon Express drop pitman arm.

thanks
Pirate
Is anything hitting at full turn to prevent it from going all the way to the stops?
Valfam
It never gets to the stops. I was told I will need to change the pitman arm for a longer one. I remember seeing some one at the Tower shops with the same setup. I think it was Tall Jeep.

I'm looking for a longer one, I'm going to try a stock tj one then I may try one from a WJ and see if that works.

The way I see it the drop pitman arm will only lowers the draglink angle and will level out the tie rod, try this. straighen your wheels , remove the drag link, turn your wheel all the way to the right
count how many turns it takes to the left, go back half that. Now the steering wheel should be straight. hold up the drag link and see if is lines up. You might just need to do some more adjustment.
Just a thought.
With a high steer kit dont you need a stock pitman arm seeing how you are raising the steering up higher?
Ruben I live not far from you and have a drop pitman arm if you want to try it. Send me your imfo and I can come by with it.

This kit has a few problems due to angles that the new arm changes and what some drop pitman arms changes. The mounting point that the draglink gets mounted on is farther out than the old one so you need an arm with more throw to pull it the same distance as before and some after market drop pitman are just factory arms bent to give you the drop so when they get a factory arm and bend it because the new offset it's shorter and the OEM one. I wish I could explain it better. I added a little picture that I made to show more or less what I"m trying to say. I have to get to bed if not I would draw out something better.

When I can i'm going to measure my pitman arm from center to center and see how long it is.

I may be working on the Jeep this weekend trying to fix a few other little things. Give me a call if you are not busy.

I put a D-60 in the front of my YJ with a High Steer and was told from the begining I would need a longer pitman arm to increase the throw, it was @ 1.5" longer, you MAY not need a drop pitman arm that is ALSO longer... just a longer one with a stock drop, I went from a dropped pitman arm (stock lenght) with a 2.5" lift to a SOA with a 2.5" lift and High Steer and a stock drop arm that is longer. The LENGHT of the arm helps the turn radius, the DROP helps keep the drag link parallel to the tie rod. 2thumbup.gif

Where did you get the longer pitman arm what is it off? Who told you that you needed a longer arm. TerraFlex has no idea or atlest they are not telling me that.

Again I know what they problem is I just hate it when they act stupid. I will keep bugging them till someone tell me the truth.

I refuse to believe that no one else has ever called them with this problem. I guess that also tells me that they do not use there own products if they have never had this problem before.

I have a king pin D-60 and the distance from where the hole for the tie rod is on the high steer arms to the line that the whole steering knuckle pivots (imaginary line through the upper lower ball joints/king pins) is longer/greater than my stock D-30 was. So you have to get a longer pitman arm to compensate or your steering won't turn as far as it used to. I'm not sure where I purchased the longer pitman arm from... maybe Parts Mike (D-60 stuff) but I know it was easily found on line. My leaf sprung dinosaur is different than your front end. Make sure nothing is binding to prevent proper stop to stop steering travel, if it is the pitman arm being to short try to determine how much longer it needs to be and start searching around. I have heard of people cutting a stock arm in half and welding an extension in the middle but that was for slowly driven off road only vehicles only I would not try that on a street drive ride. Mine only ended up being @ 1.5" longer than stock. My original was @ 5.5" from hole to hole. I don't know what kind of P/S Gear Box you have but I originally looked for a longer pitman arm on an old NON power steering vehicle (they usually have longer pitmans) that had the same sector shaft (pitman attaches to ) that my YJ has. banghead1.gif
