Greetings folks! I'm looking into buying a car, and came across an auction. I'm really not sure about this method of buying. Can any of you folks share any car auction experiences? Whether good or bad, I'd like to hear/read from you.

Another thing, I've noticed some vehicles have rebuilt/salvage titles, is there any big deal buying one of those?

What do you folks think of it?

The salvage title is due to it being totaled. I personally wouldnt touch it. Unless I was just looking for the vin and title for a buggy. As a repaired vehicle I dont think I could ever trust my family in it. You just dont know how bad the wreck was that totaled it in the first place nor knowing the shop that did the work.

Some vehicles have flood damage. I know this guy that bought a brand new honda for almost nothing 2thumbup.gif only catch is that when they were removing it from the freight boat they somehow dropped it in the water. There was no major body damage but the computer and electronics were 2thumbdown.gif and had to be replaced. There are a lot of cars here that have flood damage and are automatically totaled by the insurance.

My experience with auction cars is that it is a 50/50 experience. It is like a box of chocalate! Good luck and always try to check the vehicle first even if it cost a bit.
