Full Version: Microsoft Interner Explorer

I wanted to get an idea of what version of Microsoft Interner Explorer (IE) are you using. I have found that there is a bug with IE 6 that causes PNG images to not show correctly when a transparent background is in use. Currently I see a white box arround the JeepTalk logo and the same with the TomWoods logo.
I am only able to duplicate this with a machine running XP and Microsoft Interner Explorer (IE) 6.

If you select "Other" reply to the topic with what you are using.

i use Firefox, i didnt really like the sarari and it didnt work with my online school so switched to firefox and love it!

Basically if anyone is using XP with IE 6 or lower you should consider upgrading to IE 7 or FireFox otherwise you could experience issues viewing "*.png" images with a transparent background. On my work PC the JeepTalk logo shows up with a white background unfortunately I cannot upgrade the IE version of my work PC because it is locked down.

Willy, tell you admin that you need to upgrade to IE7 due to problems, maybe he just hasn't gotten to your PC yet or does not know about it. 9 times out of 10 they will upgrade but you might be the 10 rofl.gif

Everything at work is done via SMS pushing out the software packages. I work in IT so I know most of the guys there but the rules are so tight with the Desktops/Laptops that it takes them very long to release or upgrade our apps. They basically do not trouble shoot any PC's instead they will re-image it if there is any problems. We have roughly 3,000 people working at the corporate headquarters which is one of the reasons they are so strict.

It is no big deal I just wanted to see who else was using IE 6 and advise them to upgrade.

It's nice that some of you that are using other browsers post what you are using, but you don't answer if you are having the same problem that JeepNWilly is describing and inquiring about on his first post.

Ok, JimB, remember Mike (at Church) was having a conflict w/some software & he down-loaded Advanced Uninstaller. AI took care of somethings but not all. Someone used his PC & it would freeze every time he would open up to a web-page, sometimes not right away etc. He told me that he down-loaded Fire Fox & everything is working excellent.

1. So, what is fire fox?
2. If down-loaded does it partition the drive?
3. If you have IE7 does it delete it?
4. Does it have multiple tabs that open like IE7?
5. Where do you down-load it from?
6. Will Fire Fox work on VISTA puke.gif smile.gif I have IE7 on VISTA scratch.gif
7. Will you e-mail still work if it is PULLED to Outlook, or will you have to re-configure?

I would hate to down load it & do what my signature says, AGAIN! rofl.gif

It would be great if they are having the issue to say it so we know if it affects other browsers.
to avoid any confusion here is a screen shot of what I am referring to.
See the white box behind the logo.

Better yet you can mail me the Vista Laptop and the router and I will mail you back something kinda semi-equivalent rofl.gif

Nothing will be impacted by simply installing FireFox.

1. Yes whe you first launch FF it will notify you that it is not the default browser and gives you the uption to set it as the default browser.
2. yup no problems there. ------> but remember only you have to reformat rofl.gif
3. I will ask you if you want transfer all bookmarks from current browser.

I have 7.0 IE and from looking at the poll totals so do alot od others. So it would seem that if you upgrade to 7.0 your problems will be solved. Never seen or used FireFox so I can't comment on it.

Firefox was the first browser to support tabbed browsing. IE support for tabs, I think, came with version 7 after MS found a new feature they could copy, as usual.

OK, so what is the verdict?

No verdict, I was just trying to see who was using IE 6 or below that way I can convince them to upgrade up to IE7 in order to see the graphics properly. But so far no one that participated is using IE 6 or below 2thumbup.gif
