There was talk about a trip, in Davie, to see vintage military. I would very much like to take my son if at all possible

Topic UPDATE:

Please see Post #12 for updated information and Attendance List.

Jim B
I will try and set this up with Fred to go visit his property. It will probably have to be on a Sunday between 2 and 4 pm.
Smokey
I would like to go depending on the date. I am sure the daughter will be there and possible the wife.
mrsig
Sounds great Count Jane and I in!
Jack H
I'm with Smokey, I can attend if I know the date selected. Not all my Sundays are free in the afternoon. I may even talk my wife into it.
NonStop
You know I'm in, this is a huge look at military history, not just the US.. no one would even believe that a collection of this size and diversity would exist in one persons arsenal.. I was lucky enough to see some pictures and can't even start to explain..
SouthernStyleV8
i am in and possibly the wife as well.... let me know a date so i can schedule it
Beach Patrol
I want to go there with my son.

Sunday July 13, 2008
From 2pm to 4pm (ending time is flexible)

Location: Davie, Florida. Griffin Road & 108 Avenue.

Ok looks like we have a date set! bounce.gif

I want to thank Fred P. for hosting and showing us his excellent collection. good.gif good2.gif

Below are the details:

1. We will use Fred's grill on the property. The SFJC will bring all the food, drinks, and ice.
People doing the cooking will set up around 1:15 pm
Fred has forks, plates, condiments, etc, but might need napkins. (Btw, add 5 people on Fred's side for the food)
Everyone attending will help keep the place clean, especially at the end of the day.

2. There will be a limit of 30 people. Confirm here and I will create and edit list.
Do not commit to this if you are not going to show up and take up a spot that someone else could have had.
We will meet at my place at 1:30 pm and leave at 1:50 pm to Fred's place which is near by. If you are late sorry.
For the people setting up be at my place at 1: pm.

If you bring young children they better be under your adequate supervision (at your side) baby.gif bat.gif

3. Entrance will be off 106th ave. This is a note to myself as it does not apply since we will be leaving from my place. If you need directions to my place email me directly. Do not PM through JeepTalk. If you don't know my email use the form on my signature.

Let me remind everyone of a few things: teacher.gif

This is private property and a private collection of Military WWII vehicles, trucks, Jeeps, tank, artillery, etc. usgunjeep.gif usflag.gif

There will be no touching or getting inside these vehicles unless you ask and permission is given. Respect and proper behavior must be present at all times. Remember, you are in someone's house and people must conduct themselves in a proper manner. These collectors are extremely nice people, they are very proud and sensitive to their collections.

I will need to know how many people are interested in attending. No last minute surprises, if you show up without confirming ahead of time you will not be allowed inside (we need to have an accurate head count), if you say you are coming, we will expect you not to cancel unless you have an accident, are in the hospital or dead. I will not jeopardize a good friendship over minor details. nosetable.gif

All that said, we will all have a good time, Fred is an excellent host. Heck I still enjoy seeing all the old and new things that pop up at his place from time to time whenever I go over by his place to visit. Thank you Fred! score10.gif

Anyone not listed on that list will not be coming.

I've just confirmed the following with our Host.

He will have the bbq 1/3 tank fill, seating and tables.

The people who volunteered for the food, etc will need to bring:

food
drinks
ice
plates
napkins
utensils

If you have an extra propane tank bring it, I don't want to clean our host out of what is left on his bbq tank even though he did not mention this.

People setting up be at my place exactly at 1:15 pm
People attending be at my place exactly at 1:45 pm
TallJeep
I'll bring the propane
MrsTallJeep
We will also bring utensils and plates.
NonStop
Jim you may want to be a little more specific, thanks to Tall Jeep and his lovely wife, there will be gas, that is usually provided by TallJeep biggrin1.gif and plates n such. When you say we need to bring the food, are we as a club going to pay for the food but we need to get it there, or are we independantly going to bring dishes and what not..

I can make a Restaraunt Depot trip that morning for the Burgers, dogs, and drinks and then bring it to your house.. I have a cooler for all this.. I think they have ice there too, I will need a cooler or two for that though..

Matt,
Good point in bringing this up. Since most on that list are SFJC and their families I don't see no reason why the SFJC should not purchase what is needed. If I'm not mistaken Tomb can give the ok up to $200, anymore than this than we will need to get the 4 officers to vote on it which can be done by email. I actually though that this was discussed already and approved around 3 meetings ago.

In the event that there might be some objections (should be taken to the private SFJC Forum section) I don't mind bringing my own food and food for the 5 people that our Host will have there from his end.

Thanks for setting this up! This is going to be great!

If that's the case I'll check what do we have left from the 4th of July BBQ and bring it, I know we have a lot of soda.
NonStop
No we're good on the purchase of the food, we did discuss it.. There should be no problem picking up the food that morning, I will imagine the shopping I have done for Towers, maybe a little more will cover everyone.. I got it covered.. And that is well short of our $200 allowance.. This is going to be a great thing.. Any special requests or needs, PM me and I will do my best to accommodate everyone..

I would like to mention this, since this is truly a once in a lifetime thing, considering the fact that there are vehicles there that may not be anywhere else in the world anymore, or at least not in private hands. The fact that this type of place is being opened up to us, is there anything you can think of that the club can do for him, something simple in appreciation.. I would like to think this out before so it doesn't get forgotten or left for too long. This can go from a very nicely drafted letter after, or a gift of some kind.. No clue what will work, but I think it goes a long way to a great relationship.

So is this closed? I would go with my rent-a-kid Michael if not.

Jim,
Still have not heard from Carlos, My step-son.
He's somewhere in Fort Pierce--at a work conference.
I can't imagine him not wanting to go.
He loves history, espeicially WW2
So I'm asking he be put on the list to attend.
If there are any changes I'll let you know as soon as I know.
Thank You,
Steve

For non SFJC:
I suggest you meet at the corner of Griffin and 108 ave at 1:45 pm, call me and I'll come and get you.
If you don't know my cell, click on the email link under my signature and I will email you back, make sure your message has your cell and email.
