What would cause a MC to pump out fluid from the cap in a '86 CJ7. I recently added new front brake hoses but did not due the rear yet & now I found no fluid in the front compartment of the MC which controls the rear brakes. I do not see any leakage from the rear. When I did the front hoses I did notice the fluid down about 1/2 way but just refilled it thinking it was just..............well, U know. I'm thinking the rear cylinders R leaking. I did refill the MC tonight (didn't bleed it yet) & I pushed on the pedal & it squirts up in the MC like always.

P.S. When I pulled the cap the rubber top insert where it has the bubble or collapsing part was sucked down/extended. The part where U have to push it back up in the cap when U fill the MC.

P.P.S. I sprayed everything down w/brake cleaner so I can see what is going on. I'll keep U posted.

You have a leak in the rear lines or wheel cylinders. The rubber wsa pulled down by the suction of the m/c pushing into the brake lines.

Get some fluid in it, have someone press the pedal and look at the inside on the rtires under the drums. Betcha it's there.

That is what I mean Ian, I looked all over & can't find a leak. I looked @ the rear drums (outside) & they R dry. Tomorrow after work I'm gonna check the MC to see if it's pumping out of it but that can't be the case cause the rubber cap was sucked down. I bet it's in the rear drum & mud or something is keeping it dry. I filled the front (didn't bleed them) MC & one the way to work it was spongy, but on the way home it was firm so it has to be a leak which forced the air out. @ least I know if it goes dry again I always have the front.
