If you don't fight for the trails, there won't be any trails to fight for.

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.
Zig Ziglar

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling that thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." ....

John Stuart Mill

This is on my hardwire desktop to router (no wifi). I have an old wireless access point attached to the router that gives me great range through walls, etc. It's kind of old and the limit on that wifi is 3k but the range goes at least one city block through anything with a solid 2.5 to 3k.

What I want to know is how Matt gets it so high and some of the others from comcast. Yet some other comcasts I see are not as high :worship:

Two thing will cause varying sppeds. Distance to the POP (Point of Presence) and number of active users on the cable run at the time the test is run because cable is a shared medium, DSL on the other hand is dedicated so distance is the only factor for it.

More than likely he lives very close to the POP and his neighbors weren't very active online when he ran his test. Because cable is shared bandwidth it is usually a larger pipe in order to accomadate peak utilization. Bellsouth on the other hand is DSL, if you have FastAccess DSL Extreme 6.0 than 6Mbps is the best you will ever hope to achieve.

I've had BS for quite a few years and actually very satisfied. 6k is really plenty but I do sometimes wish I had a faster upload like some of the Comcast reading I'm seeing since I upload quite a bit for work, private stuff, etc.

I have had friends also complain that their comcast really slows down at times and I guess this has to do with what you were saying. I do have to say that BSouth was up even during the Hurricanes while Comcast was down in some areas for over 4 weeks. I also got lucky during this season because at that time I had Sat TV and cable was also down for an equal time. Don't have Sat TV any longer.

I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too. :worship:

definition per Wikipedia

A kilobit per second (kbit/s or kb/s or kbps) is a unit of data transfer rate equal to 1,000 bits per second. It is sometimes mistakenly thought to mean 1,024 bits per second, using the binary meaning of the kilo- prefix, though this is incorrect.

Comcast has 13/2 Mbps service? Either that or the test has a problem. The reason I ask is because I have never seen 13 Mbps advertised and it is a very fast link compared to what other Comcast customers have.

I've heard of people tweaking their TCP/IP settings but this is really good so you are going to have to share some of your settings with us if indeed this was the case. :biggrin1:

Now for the video proof. Get your butt a video camera and shoot the monitor while it is happening. Then upload the video to your personal JT Gallery and link it into the post. Use wmv or mpg format when you convert it. Make sure it is a small file and not a one hour movie. This will give you something to do on a Saturday morning before you go partying.

Yep, I agree. Use the phone. Can you transfer the files to your computer using the phone software  If you can, find out what format it is. Your Jeep Talk Gallery can accept flash, media player, quicktime and a few. Create yourself a video album. Check out the JT Gallery and see some of the videos there.
