Video Posting vs Url Links

There is an easier way that you can actually post and play the window of the video right on the post. Members can view the video without navigating to another site and stay right on the topic.
Most formats are now supported using the Media Icon located on top of the editor.
Click on the Media Icon and enter the complete URL. That's all it takes.
Formats supported:
YouTube, YouTubePlayList, Google Video, Flickr Image Set (not video), Flash Movie/Game,
MP3, WMV Video (windows), Photobucket Video.
In addition we wrote BBCodes (explanation to follow)allowing all JeepTalk Members to be able to Post Video right inside the Post. All a Guest or JT Member has to do is click on it to play the video.
How BBCode is used for Flickr Video:
1. Click to write a new post as usual.
2. Write your post as you normally would, when you are ready to post the video you will see an "Other Styles or Quick Access" drop down box to the left above of the posting screen.
3. On the drop down box you will see the BBcodes, choose the one for your format.
Flickr
4. All you have to do is click on the format of the video that you will be posting and a new box will pop up with Instructions and samples. Usually with Flickr you will have to enter the video number found in the url, not the complete url.
5. Here is the most important information:
Follow the instructions when the box opens, look in the support forum for more detail instructions. If you can't find any create a topic with your question on this section.
Click Ok and the code will be placed in the body of your post with all the information. JeepTalk will know how to post the video box and play your video when you finish your post.
Simple enough. Use the Test Forum to play with this before you go flying.

Thanks any way
Try one more thing, if this does not work for you throw whatever you are using out the window.
Close any browser windows.
Open your IE properties.
Security Tab
Trusted Sites
Uncheck "Requires server verification https" You might not have this depending on your version.
Add the following sites exactly as I liste here:
*.jeeptalk.net
*.worldoversea.com
www.jeeptalk.worldoversea.com
Put the check mark back for server verification.
Hit ok to all and close.
If you have a pop up blocker: Add these sites in the following manne, do not add the asterisk or period:
jeeptalk.net
worldoversea.com
www.jeeptalk.worldoversea.com
reboot
Vista might have other areas so check your help files.

I suggest that you disable one of the pop up blockers. Running two at the same time could give you problems.
I'm not too found of Vista either.

I'm going to answer this one for Admin so you don't take up his valuable time with unfounded problems.
It does not do this for me. Below is a link with Media that I posted a while back on the Video and Pic forum.
Try changing your OS from Mac to PC, you life would be so much better. You are trying to run PC software in a non PC machine, if you love PC so much than switch to it, otherwise be a hard core Mac lover and remove all that software you have on you computer that runs PC stuff.

Dave, I agree that about 90% of where you go on the web they play right away. I'm not kidding when I tell you that when I go to the link I gave you or any winmedia here on JT, it does not play right away. I have to hit the play button twice. Can someone else try that link and tell us. Also tell us what you have, PC or Mac to see if there is a pattern.

I also have to hit the play button. I looked at Athos76 post "Jeep lost its top" to try another post with a video and it did not play automatically. I will try from my home Mac see if there is a difference, because this government Mac has a heavy duty firewall and I sometimes have issues with certain sites...luckily I can get on JT

fwiw...MBPro...10.4.11 2 GHz Intel / 2 GB DDR2 SDRam
ps - i have a 10.5 (Leopard) disk to install on the new hard drive and really need to get around to that. the MBPro is a bear for a HD swap. 10.4 (Tiger) came out before Vista, so 10.5 might make the difference.
pps - willy...what makes me hardcore? was it the 6 machines (5 laptops, 1 desktop) i pulled out running everything from OS 7.6 to 10.4?

I have modified the BBCode and you can now post Flickr videos right on the post on any JeepTalk forum. Use it in the similar manner you posted YouTube videos. Click on the drop down box under "Insert Special Item", choose Flickr, enter the video ID# of the URL (not the entire url) and you are done. You may ask a Moderator to edit your prior URL postings. I suggest that people practice on the Test forum.
Note for everyone: I like the way the videos on Flickr are being seen, they are very clear and good quality, better than Youtube. I noticed also that if you remove the mouse hover from on top of the video, the bottom bar disappears and appears again when you hover over it.
Enjoy,
Admin

The New Media Icon on top of the editor now supports the following formats.
YouTube, YouTubePlayList, Google Video, Flickr Image Set (not video), Flash Movie/Game, MP3, WMV Video (windows), Photobucket Video.
Read the first post for instructions on how to use the Media Icon to post your videos.
We are looking into adding a code for Vimeo but we are not really sure if it is worth the effort since we don't know anyone that uses this service. If there are requests for Vimeo I will add this as well.
We believe that the new Media Icon Code will now behave with Macs and in the WMV Windows Media and not play automatically. Those with Macs should report. We have a WMV video on the first post. Please tell us if your Mack plays automatically, it should not, if it does there is nothing we can do about this as it is an OS problem.
We only tested a random Photobucket Video, those that have some please post a sample on this topic for other to see.
Same goes for the YouTube PlayList and Flickr Image Set.
Please continue to use the normal BBCode for Flickr video and not the Media Icon. The reason that we could not make this a part of the family was that Flickr uses the same type url for images as well as videos and it would cause a conflict with the img tag.
If anyone has any questions please reply to this topic, a Moderator or another member that have used these feature will surely help.
Enjoy posting your videos,
Admin

CNN is kind of tricky and you can not just enter the url link address of the site where they show the video like you can for other videos that are supported.
Bring up the site where the CNN video is showing, hover over the video, right click, properties and copy the url, post by using the Media Icon. I noticed that the properties url address sometimes ends in characters that you have to remove and that is the tricky part as well.

In the video window itself on the top right there is a tab called "share". Click on it.
A menu will pop up with a bunch of small icons at the bottom on top and across the video play bar.
The first icon starting on the left is a "link" image icon.
Click on it and copy the link.
I just love the way they change things from one second to another.

We have modified the New Media Icon on top of the editor to now support the Facebook videos.
All you have to do to post a video right inside your post is click on the media icon and enter the URL Link of the Facebook video that is showing on your address bar.
While you are watching the video if you click on the right bottom square it will show the larger view, press Esc on your keyboard to return.
Below you will find a sample:
