I got a chance today to start painting the M416. I got the fenders, and the tailgate, plus the new tailgate going on the jeep. It didnt get all over as i imagined, but i still have the plastic sheeting down. Not that bad for an at home job, but i do have a few bug corpses in the paint :gun: Only bummer is it will take a while to paint, i have to do each side and let it dry adn that just takes a bit of time, but i will eventually get it done. Best thing is the clean up with teh acrylic paint is much easier than the oil based paints i used on my car hauler. :drive:

Dan,

I like your paint booth, much better than mine for bug control.

Tell me, do you find that the tail gate is a plus on the civilian trailer  For the guys with the military M416, is it a pain in the but getting stuff in and out

When i got the trailer the rear was already torched off, but they kept it in the trailer, so i put some stainless hinges and made do. With the new setup it will look much nicer.I think the tailgate is a bit nicer to have because it allows you to take the tailgate off and allow that stuff that is a little bit longer to fit and not bend the rear of the tub. Given i cant float the thing, but i never really thoguht about doing that

Not much for accesories. I will have to make a tarp for it out of canvas. Other than that nothing else planned. I have to get a set of 31s uner the trailer, right now they are 33s under it and they just abotu rub and would rather get it back down to semi-normal. later on if i need to i may do a spring over with it to match my jeep, but it is gonna be used. for hauling stuff and camping to local places.

Dan,

Have you thought about doing what Safari did by relocating the placement of the fenders...

I don't think anyone will fail to see this trailer color on the road.

i thought of doing that, but i will think bout doing it later on, after i get some use with it. Since my jeep usually get traielred to most trails since they are all far away from me, i cant fit the trailer on the car hauler. So it will be used locally and gonna be best with a bit smaller tires. Eventually i mgiht go higher, when the time is right  Oh yeah the traielr will be noticable with the yellow

Here are some more pics, i got the tub sprayed, but only with one coat, then i ran out of reducer and hardener, so off to the store to get more and hopefully this weekend i can get it all sprayed and put back together. It is looking nice, but i am still getting runs here and there so i have to get out the razor to cut them down and sand them and spray a bit more to clean it up.

Here are the pics

Yup cant say it is OSHA compliant. I do paint with the door cracked so i do not pass out, and have a small fan on. But i do have a respirator, so i will live a bit longer

Who needs a stinken respirator when you can paint outside in the wind and enjoy nature.

Looking good Dan. That color will definitely attract attention.
