When I just opened the chat room I had to turn off my pop-up blocker and I started getting a popup screen. I don't know if you are aware of this.

I thought this forum was ad free?

When we first got the chat room from Bravenet it was add free. They have now changed it since we do not pay for this service.

We have an excellent chat room software that is flash dependent. We purchase it, their is a problem however. It requires that the server run PHP4.3 and above... we have 4.06 and the hosting service of JeepTalk will update but not anytime soon.

We are working on this to find a temporary solution. If any of you know of a free chat room that will work on php that is free or does not cost an arm and a leg let us know. I've looked at a few others but nothing that impresses me yet.

In the mean time I will take the one we have down if you wish.

Don't remove it on my account. I am just suspicious of any pop-ups ever since I made the mistake of going to whitehouse.com and getting a trojan that put a pop-up a minute on my work computer... for three #$@&* days! (I had to get my computer re-imaged to get rid of it)

I agree with you on the pop ups. Give me a week to see if there is anything else we can put up that will not have this problem and will work with the current version of PHP that JeepTalk is running on.

Have you tried the chat room or are you just talking about the forum?

JeepTalk does not have any pop ups other than the additional smiley window when you are writing a post. No advertisement anywhere.

Rayne, where are you seeing these pop ups, and what are they?

The only thing I see (as Sky6 mentioned) is the chat room now has advertising and pop up adds since it's being hosted by another service. The pop up adds must be a new thing from the free service we were using. We will try and change this next week.

I have never had a pop up on this forum. Are you sure you don't have any spyware on your 'puter?

Ok, that explains it. Here is a suggestion.... go to your popup blocker filter settings, create one with jeeptalk.worldoversea.com and click on the boxes or setting to admit popups. Your privated message windows will come in fine and your additional smilie menu would also popup when you want to use it without shutting down your blocker.

I can assure you that is safe as Jeeptalk has no spy or advertising on it. These two windows that pop up are part of the BBS program to allow you to use more features.

The chat board will be taken down today, we will not have one until we can find one that we can host on our server rather than one that is hosted by someone else creating these adds.

I found a NEW problem with it ....

Everytime I say "certain" words they get replaced with %$^&

ie: %$^& becomes %$^&, %$^& becomes %$^&, and %$^& becomes %$^&

Can this be fixed or will my true feeling remain %$^& ...

Please fix the %$^& because %$^& %$^& %$^& is getting %$^&

:naughty:

This feature was implemented to prevent people (such as yourself) from offending & be forced to learn the proper English language. There are also Moderators who will kick and ban if someone is having problems adapting to the chat room society.

Other than this, I don't see a problem.
