Go stock... that is unless you have a 22 ton axle. :gossip: Stock means easy accessible parts at junk yards, dealerships, or guys that might want to sell with upgrades.

There are some guys that work for Jeep Dealers here that might be able to get you a deal. I know Ruben's 4x4 can get OEM parts, also check with Mountain Man.

Thanks Jim,

I was just wondering if they made one a little bit better that stock.

But if that's all I can get that I will.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

I just remembered in the event you might want to do something other than stock, I should have mentioned this on my prior post.

In one of my West trips to Farmington, I had the pleasure to wheel with Harold at "Off Again". I was with a friend that knew him and he was the most active 4x4 shop in the area along with being a competitor.

At the time he and I were discussing brake systems. He showed me that he had designed a special double brake booster with all the necessary parts you needed to stop on a dime, since. His website for some reason is not working, his info is:

Off Again Off Road, 508 E. Murray Dr., Farmington NM 87401
phone: (505) 325-5761 fax: (505) 325-1552
website: http://www.offagain.com/

Below are a few articles written on his brake system. Looks pretty trick, the only draw back that I can see is that if something happens, parts would not be readily available. I could be wrong as I have not detailed the setup itself.

Off Again Navajo Brakes
Off Again Article 2

You might want to give Harold in NM a call. I think there was a toll free number in one of these two articles.

A few guys with TJs have been using the new brake booster and cylinder when they move over to the new OEM disk brakes for the rear. What I did on my 97TJ was to remove an oring inside the master cylinder to allow more flow to the rear when I installed Explorer rear disk conversion (had this on my D44 also) and it has worked for me till now.

Thank you very much,

Very interesting on the double booster, I'll read up on it.

I'm tired of not being able to stop good w/ my CJ (s). It's been a thorn in my side ever since I got my first one, CJ-5 77'.

Thanks again,
This board is great!

I am going to save up some $$ & get this up grade for my 79', then I may let the wife drive it  to see if she wants one for her 86'.

Thanks alot Jim,

P.S. I ordered my 22gal Stainless Steel gas tank for the 79', it should be in this week I hope.

Rollbar,

Don't forget to take some pics of the tank and of the install, post it here on tech talk. In this manner you keep us updated on how aggressively you continue to spend your money.  :greedy:
