I have a good TF999 out of an 89 wrangler that had a 4.2l/258 carbed I6...it had a np231 t case behind it and the adapter is still there. I have the flex plate and an aftermarket shifter too. Pm Me if interested. $350.00

I found a 999 for my son's Jeep ('74 CJ5, 304, D20) but my questions are:

1. Will I have to change out the input shaft (rear tail shaft that goes to a t-case) to fit a D300?

2. Being a CJ5, and if I do have to change out the shaft, will a NP231 fit OAL in a CJ5 if I leave said shaft?

I would like to find out so I can give my son the estimate on additional costs.

Thanks,
Jim
