Have some time off coming up over the Holidays...anyone want to try a Bear Run some upcoming weekend? Should be drying out nicely...not too wet. Weather should be cooling off some too, making it even nicer.

Anyone up for a "Bear Run" between now and New Years?
Should be High & Dry..for those of us not wanting to hydrolock anything.
Anyone run The Bear lately...what was it like?

I did the "Loop" today.
Dry, cool, decent birds, usual 'Gators.
Road surface is degrading a little, so it's not as smooth as before, but no deep ruts at all..still too damn boring.

But I also got to renew my ORV Permit..No Waiting, they're up to the 80's and told me last year didn't even sell out and it's going very slowly...as if the economy is definitely hurting ORV usage.
The latest approved Trail Map looks like they've been cut back significantly...that may be a factor too.
If the weather holds, I am still thinking about a Bear Run over the next few days. I was told water levels are going down, so it shouldn't be too bad for a moderately lifted WJ.

Made a run Thursday...Great Weather!
Turner Rover Road was horrible as usual.
Bear Island was high and dry...not much wildlife...very few birds or anything up there from what we saw.

Stayed in the West mostly....didn't want to try any real trails alone with the wife in the Jeep and no back-up vehicles anywhere in sight.
Gotta know your limitations.

We basically had the place all to ourselves!
