I run System Mechanic Pro and seems their latest update is the problem:

Have you tried uninstalling System Mechanic Pro?
I personally do not like any of those tools that suppose to magically fix and speed up your computer.

I was thinking of doing that but I would not have protection, that is why I asked about anti-virus in the other post. 2 yrs w/SMPro and no problems until now. I am in communication w/them. They are asking me to disable protection and email protection and then see if the problem exists. I really don't want to open up my PC to problems w/the disabled features.
My Outlook will not update to 2010 as well; had to try it. My outlook receives 8 emails of the same and the receive is veeeeerrrrrry slooooowww. I did try (disable email protection for one try) w/out SMPro and it was fast so I know it is the program they have.
If I get another anti-virus, I will need to delete my SMPro first, BUT, won't that let my system be open to viruses.
WOuld you leave the one and let the new program detect it and remove the old one ?

I would say if the SMPro folks are giving you support then see if they can find the issue for you if not then yes you will have to uninstall SMPro then install the AntiVirus you choose.
You could try to install and AntiVirus first then delete uninstall SMPro. I have done this when I switched my parents from Symantec to FreeAVG.
Sometimes you will run into issues where they current app will prevent you from installing the new one in that case you are stuck with being unprotected for a short while.
