The 2nd Annual Taste of the Bay will be taking place on Sunday, February 26 in Cutler Bay, FL (South Miami). The hours are 11 am to 6 pm. This is put on by the Village of Cutler Bay and the Cutler Bay Business Association.

This is their 2nd (Annual) event. Last year, they had over 3000 attendees and are expecting more this year. This will take place at the old Burger King headquarters on Old Cutler Rd (map link below). Several local restaurants will be there w/ vendor booths, along with many other local businesses. Family friendly event with face painting, bounce house and others for the children.

One of the show highlights will be the Classic Car Show, with prizes awarded in many categories. They will be featuring 2 groups at this show...the Sunshine Corvette Club and the South Florida Jeep Club (still waiting to hear back if we can park on top of the Corvettes!).

Plan to make a day of family fun and come on out for this event!! Please post up if you think you can attend, as I need to get back w/ the event organizers on how many Jeeps they need to reserve featured parking for.

Look forward to seeing you all there!!

PS - If there is enough interest, I would be willing to head a meet up and drive down Old Cutler together as a group...one of the most scenic drives in Miami.

PPS - This event will be taking place almost directly across the street from one of Florida's most historic Jeep relics...come on down to see one of the oldest specimens of Jeep history in Florida!!!!!

WOW! Being the "old relic", this is the first time I will be the closest to the
event. Less than a 1/2 mile.

I went last year, and it was a real GOOD event. Lots of FREEBIES, lots to see, to taste, and with
tons of stuff to buy. They even had a good band.

My "OLD" CJ-7 and I will be there!

If you are coming south on the turnpike (you will be missing a scenic trip on Old Cutler Road)
get off at exit 13 and go a little over 4 miles EAST on Eureka (SW 184 Street) as far as it
goes.......and you will be at the event.

This really looks like an exceptional event. I hope nothing gets in the way of this date as I will bring the Willys with all the goodies. Please do confirm if we will be able to park at the show. Will be towing the Willys if family comes with and will need a place to park truck and trailer.

Thank you for posting and making us aware of this event. I actually picked it up when I saw it listed on the main calendar just now and shows up 30 days in advance, totally missed when you originally posted early this month. :ya: :2thumup:

If you can't park your trailer at the show.......don't know
why because there is plenty of space......you can park on
my lawn, I have 2 acres right across the street from the
event.

This event has been cancelled as an official club event. We needed at least 10 Jeep for a feature and looks like we'll be short. All are still welcomed to attend!

So we can still attend and park or display on our own, correct
Do we have to contact anyone individually

I'm strongly thinking of attending this. Marty are you bringing any of your rides, might bring the Willys :ya:
Anyone else that might want to display maybe we can still get at least a few of us in.

From your fist post I was not aware that it was any "official" club event and that the SFJC was just invited to park along side the corvettes.

I see a contact number for the link you posted, anyone we should speak with in particular

Everyone is welcome to go and attend the event. If we could have garnered a large enough group, they would have roped off and designated a space for us, but anyone is welcomed to enter the show and attend the event. There will be plenty of good food & entertainment!

Sorry to hear that the event is cancelled, as far as SFJC displaying our vehicles.

Yes, I will attend the event.......it's a FUN time, with lots to hear, see and do.

But, I am NOT washing and waxing either of my Jeep vehicles.

Jimbo, contact me, and we can CONVOY the whole 1/2 mile to the event.

Marty, just got a return call from the coordinator of the event. Turns out it's only for Corvettes. :2thumbdown:

She stated if anyone of us wanted to display our Jeeps to take out a booth and pay for it. No thanks. :boo:

She did say that she might open it up next year to other vehicles and that I could get free tickets to just go to the event by visiting the sponsor's place of business. I guess they are not aware that we usually get invited and does not have a clue. Not her fault as she was probably not made aware from the get go or even given an option.

Personally I think they are missing the boat a bit as they can actually make this bigger not just opening to Jeeps but other classic vehicles as well. We gave it a good try. Good thing Dave posted a no go on this one, would have been an unhappy camper if I would have towed the Willys all the way down south of Cuba. :biggrin1:

They had all sorts of cars, last year. Not just Corvettes.

We refer to the area as HAVANA NORTH.

I'll go to one of the sponsors and pick up tickets........if
you or anyone else wants them, PM or email me.

Hopefully, it will NOT rain.
