I saw a status update and did not see anything posted on the main calendar in where it is mentioned that the SFJC meeting is at Arrigo tonight Tuesday. Arrigo has always been on Wed and Hollywood on Tuesday of every other month.

When was this changed  I had plans to attend on Wed, can someone please explain what is going on.

I think it was talked about a couple of months ago. It seemed, according to the powers that be, those who couldn't make the Tuesday meeting do not come to the Wednesday meetings anyway, so it was decided all meeting would be on Tuesdays. I haven't gone to too many meetings lately so I could have my info mixed up.

Willy, I think all candidates are running unopposed...again.

I believe it was at the October meeting that the issue was discussed and voted on (don't hold me to the exact month...not totally positive). With meetings being held @ 4 different locations now, members were constantly questioning whether the meetings were on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. There was a collective decision to move all meetings to Tuesdays to avoid confusion and there were no objections...

I think then maybe the majority of the members (which is a good percentage) that don't attend often should have been notified. I for one tried to attend most of the meetings and I must have missed this announcement.

I'm trying to re arrange to attend but not sure now.

On another note:
Even though SFJC started their own forum (which is exceptional) there can still be announcements topics here on JT or for that matter to any other forum announcing dates and events as well as listing them on other calendars. It can actually bring more traffic to the club as the new club forum rarely has traffic. I for one do not visit the new forum as I don't have time even sometimes to be on JT, that and I don't like to hang around open source for security reasons but that's another story.

Correct Dave, but it was the Nov meeting at Massey Yardley. Nichole sent an email to everyone on the 8th to let them know the meeting is today. We have been posting club events on both forums though some items may fall through the cracks.

Jim,

Per standard practice with all meetings, the club meeting was announced by email. Please note SFJC meetings have not always been recorded to this forum's calendar. With respects to Tuesdays, The club has been holding meetings on Tuesdays as far back as October 2011.

As with all meetings, please do you best attend. To clarify and avoid any further confusion I've included the email below.

Thanks,
Bill

Jack, Bill, I did receive the email but due to my own fault of getting used to receiving the monthly meeting email with same info I rarely look at them and delete. I actually thought it was a date mistake and did not think anything of it at the time until I read Nicole's status update since there was no topic ahead of time. Also the Tuesdays as far back as October got caught with the Nov and Dec holidays. Even a few other members I spoke to got mixed up.

What I meant about notifying the membership (not the monthly meeting email as stated on your postings) is that when a major change comes about there should be a separate email with a different subject heading (CHANGE IMPORTANT, or something like this) at a different time from the meeting email or after a meeting to notify so we can all key on the change that took place. This is just my suggestion and you are welcome to ignore and trash it altogether if the SFJC administration thinks that it might be just a waste of time.

Nevertheless it's not a big deal, I would have like to have attended and still trying to move things around. Since tonight is a new voting administration night I would like to have 5 minutes after the meeting with the new administration to go over some things that could effect the online secure forms for new member sign up that I have to explain rather than bring them up at the meeting in case there are questions. If this is not possible let me know.

This of course if I make it tonight.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Jim stated one of the reasons he does not use the new club forum is he does not like to hang around an open source.
My questions are;
1). Isn't Jeep Talk an open source?
2). If not and JT is somehow better protected from outsiders hacking into the clubs forum, what if anything, can be done
to better protect sfjc's forum.
3). Jim, can you clarify what you meant by open source?

Steve,
In the computer world Open Source means the software is free and developers have access to the source code that makes up the software. Generally they may be easier hacked since everyone can get access to the inner workings of the software. JT is not an Open Source forum as you have to buy the software package as well as maintenance and support.

As long as sfjcforum is kept updated with the latest security patches on a regular basis it should be fine.
