Thinking about doing my first Jeep Jamboree. My son lives in Rhode Island, and I am in south Florida. We are leaning toward Penn Hills, PA in April of 2012. This will not only be my first Jamboree, but it will also be my first off-road experience. Obviously I plan to start with the easiest of trails. Any advice?

If you are planing on driving your Jeep from South Florida to PA, you may want to look into the auto train that goes from Orlando area to DC area. It will save you about 900 miles of driving plus a night hotel. As far as the trails, try not to break anything too important

Go for it!
It is a good experience and you will learn a whole lot
about yourself, your vehicle and how to 4 wheel.
You are NOT going alone, there are people there to help
you and guide you, and if you should have some mechanical
issue, to help you get going again.
I have been a TRAIL MASTER on over 12 Jeep Jamborees, at
about 6 different locations. Everyone comes away from
the trip with a better appreciation of their vehicle,
their abilities and with new confidence to tackle some
seemingly impossible situations.
I have also paid and gone on 3 other Jamborees where
I was NOT the Trail Master.
