Let me know how it is if you decide to try it when you come back.
I'm not able to because it will not work on the A5 new chip for the 4s.

The War Dept has the 3GS on 4.0.1, she only uses phone and txt. Has no data, does not want and I'm not sure if it's even worth going to the trouble of updating to 5.0.1 since it is unlocked and don't want to go through the trouble in creating a custom firmware to save it in case I need this in a pinch.

MiWi does not show on my iTunes, I'm going to have to borrow the War Dept's phone that has it and sync. Need to find out how to transfer when the time comes. Not sure if the new iTunes shows all the JB apps, does yours

Cydia apps never get transferred to iTunes only the cracked iTunes apps found in installous.
Once you Jailbreak you will need to install MyWi again from Cydia

At least I can tether which was basically my biggest concern. Another JB app I miss is iBlacklist.

I guess you picked up an old Mac, trader might have to pick up an old slow mac laptop for things like this. I should find them cheap since no one wants Macs. I noticed they have now been getting hit with a lot more viruses.
Tell me, did you get any hiccups on any of the apps because of the JB
Did you install MiWi? Any 3GS at home on 5.x

Becareful with old macs because apple loves to stop support and if you are not in a current OS the latest iTunes may not work.
So far no hiccups with any apps the only issue was because of the huge number of people jailbreaking the servers were overwhelmed and I had to do multiple tries to get Cydia installed.
Since this was my iPad 2 WiFi version there is no need for me to install MyWi. I already have MyWi loaded in my iPhone 4 and 5.0.1 that I jailbroke while on vacation.
Yes my son's iPhone is a 3GS and running 5.0.1 jailbroken and he has no problems with it. Well at least he has not complained to me yet so I guess no issues lol.

Yes, I think I'll stay away from getting an old Mac jumping through hoops just to keep it updated and shelved for an occasional use.
