not chargeing

i have a 1993 yj i am having problems holding a charge i have replaced the battery got my alternator checked[ it's good] and i have tightened all my grounds what could it be?

check connections... especailly the grounds... frame to eng block...

Check for shorts on any of the cable coming from the battery. One of them may be draining the battery, winch cables, aux lights, radio, clock, alarm, etc.

X2, also did you check the Alt. on or off the Jeep, it may be putting out a charge but not getting to the Bat. have it checked on Jeep if you did not already...

if you have a multi meter check resistance on all the cable leeds. especially the ground from the bat to the block. what happens alot is that cable runs near the exhaust manifold, melts off the insulation and corodes.

This must be contagious... battling the same problem with my 93 YJ. Will be interested to learn what is causing your issue.

i was aslo told it could be my ecm becuase the volt reg in internal in the ecm does this soud right to anyone?

check the big 50 amp maxi fuses and make sure the ecm fuses are good...

After upgrading my alt to a 136 amp... installing a yellow top Optimia. It is freaking amazing how quick your charging problem goes away after you replace the blown 50 amp Maxi fuse. Thank you Jerrold. I will be carrying an extra 50 amp from now on.
