I have a 91 Wrangler. When shifting to 3rd it wants to grind, you can ease it into gear by letting it rest for a sec or two in neutral. Had some people look at it and they tell me I need to replace the whole transmission. No other issues. Would appreciate some feed back on this. thanks

Maybe the shift fork is a little bent.

Maybe there is h20 in the fluid.

Clutch adjustment.

I had a similar issue like that some time ago. I took it into Total Performance in Ocala and they rebuilt it. I had a synchronize going out.

Yep agreed, forgot to mention that. I would try the other as well, IF, you have been in a lot of H20/never changed out the gear lube.

So "Synchronizer X2" means rebuilding transmission?

I would say so. But check the price of a new one. Buy the time i got done rebuilding mine i could have purchase a new one. Some of that was because i told them to replace anything that had any ware. I didn't want to be doing it again in a couple months. Remember if you do any water its cheaper to drain the fluids and replace them then to rebuild everything. Axles, transfer case, and Transmission fluids.
