I want to change my gearing.

I want to step up to 4.56's or 4.88's

Question: What brand of gear/ring & pinion is the best out there on the market for quality etc.?

Thanks,

RollBar :2thumup:

Rollbar,

Dana Spicer... period. And if you can handle a short drive have Ruben's 4x4 install them. Btw that is all he uses and he can get them at good prices. Shop it around and then give him a call, his info is listed in the forum.

Another alternative is to go to the local fleemarket, I've seen some great deals there at times on top of the tables, just make sure it's not raining. :lroll:

I dont think Spicer makes a 4:56 for the D30 front. I went with Precision for the D30 and Spicer for the D44. I believe them to be among the best. I would be very careful of buying used gears unless you have the ability to install them yourself. It can be very difficult to set up used gears and the labor is so expensive you dont want to do it over again. 4:88's are still difficult to get, seems there is a huge demand for them and they get SUCKED UP almost as soon as they are available. As Jim said, contact Ruben if you can and he can fill you in on availability and probably get you best prices. He installed my gears and lockers and I am very satisfied. john

I m half way done with my front 44 HP...been thinking about upgrade to 4.88s or stay with 4.56 to save me $600 for upgrade to 4.88s gears/labor.

I already has 4-1...heck, i think i ll stay with 4.56 cuz i dont want any bigger than 36"
