I need to check the tire psi and do a chalk test on the tires. I can feel a very little lose in power, I will say 75mph is fast enough.

Is the middle void where you will be installing or are you making a platform to go into the receiver

Looks good with the new tires. :ya: Stop by when you have time so you can show it off.

Don't know about the 4 door JK's but Rich never hit the skid on his evap even though he hit every other part of the undercarriage up in WindRock

Looking good Tommy! :2thumup: and Willy is right, the evap skid was the only part of my undercarriage that did not have battle scars.

Jim, that's just the way the bumper is. It leaves room for larger tires.

Thanks for the skid Goblin. My only concern now is the trany & oil pan.

On a side note. Before I left 4 Wheel Parts I asked Mike if I could look through their parts bin ( the stock parts they take off ) > He said there's nothing good in there. Well I walked away with all 8 controle arms, TC skid and a cross member. Not bad for nothing good.

YA I know, the only time I had time to take it out was when we did Corbett ( stock ). I think Jeeptoberfest will be a good shake down.
The week after Jeeptoberfest is another DGMC run

I'll try to make this one.

I though I would add a few things I have been working on.
I took this and used it for a hard top hoist.
Posted Image

I mounted it to the joist.

Posted Image

Harbor Freight, It worked out great.

Went to U-Pull it found a cargo van and for $10 my vice and mappp gas and few other things I came up with this

It's ok for now but I think I'm going to rework it.

Found a place for the CB I had. It's kinda close to my head but so is the speaker. I'll see how this works out

Tommy, really like the hoist, never had a hard top, have always heard of guys doing hoist setups never seen one or bother to hunt for pictures since I don't have one. I like the idea of the winch vs the pulley systems that some guys talk about, press a button and go. Pulley has an advantage that is simple with a little elbow grease and no mechanical to go wrong. Winch is so much lower profile without so many ropes and a simple button.

When you get time please post a pic of how you are hooking up to the hard top. Your ideas can sure help others and I'm curious to see how you are doing it, I did see the hooks at the end of the bar on your picture. :2thumup:

The hooks were from Home Deopt. The T-bar I made from some uni-strut we had from work. The padding is pipe insulation 1- 5/8''( from work )
If you look at the hook and the angle it's in, it was doing that in the rear. And it was putting stress on the glass.

Posted Image

So I got some 3/8'' all thread from Lows. Some mapp gas, my vice & hammer I made a J-hook

Posted Image

Some washer a nylon nut to adjust it level when I picked it up.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I would not leave it hanging, just lower it to the floor

There are plans you can you can get off the net to make a hard top dolly.I think I'll do that. Maybe make one for the door too.

If you haven't heard yet I am now the proud owner of a mall crawler, I mean a 2011 4 door Rubi unlimited. Not long ago Bill was saying that he wanted to do a write up on a jeep build that will show people that it wasn't that hard to do.It will be nothing fancy, just a 4'' lift, bumpers, sliders, skids, & tires w/spacers

Will that's about it . I need to get going, I have alot to do today. There's a sale today at the Pembroke Pines mall today that I don't want to miss & then I need to go grocery shoping, and then take Tommy & his friend to the movies.

BOYNTON BEACH here :-)
You may want to look at the web site I made about my 2009 JKU Rubi build-up. I did the tires with wheel spacers first also, but got lucky and bought new 17x9 rimms with the proper back space.

Thank you for the nice write-up! Looks like it's working great. I have seen a dolly from a parts store which holds the hard top and the four doors; however, that thing was 500 bucks or so!

Pics look sweet. :ya:

Let me ask since I'm a newbie on hardtops...
Why would you not want to leave it hanging up and out of the way to use up the room
Is it because over time you feel that it might warp

If for some reason it falls, I would not be a happy person.
I have seen pics where people would hang 2x4s under it, kinda like a shelf.
