Concerning Sergio... attached or as a souvenir.

Just trying to inject a little levity. I know it's been a rough week for a lot of folks and good to see we have each other backs.

Let me know if France or I can be of any help.

Still attached at this point. Maybe he got to keep the rest as a souvenir.

Yes, I think we all could use a little humor right now. It's been a tough week for many of us. It is nice that we have such a great Jeep family on here.

Bill, does France work at Broward General? I think he's being taken care of now but he might like to have visitors. I'm headed up there now. I know that he was alone for much of today.

I think the sign said until 8pm.

There's a new sign in his room now. On the wall just over his head.

"HARD OF HEARING"

He laughed when I told him it was there as he didn't know the nurses put it up.

France works at Memorial but she might have a contact at Broward Gen. I'll check. What do we need specifically? Does it look like he's getting the needed care at this point or is there still an issue?

When I stopped by last night he seemed to be doing ok as far as his care goes. I'll check in today to see how the surgery on his hand went after I'm off work. I believe there were a few that mentioned about visiting him this evening.

I just spoke to Tom. Steve has just gone in for his surgery.

France has been real useful in the past in understanding why certain drugs were prescribed and if familiar with the procedure why follow up actions or alternatives are suggested or being taken. For instance post operative dosing of anti-biotics or pain medications. Also she might be good to check with when post reconstruction therapy is started. If she's not busy, I can drive her over to Steve's to check his dressings (bandages) and explain things.

And of course if Sergio's got questions for his surgery as well just give us a call.

Hope this helps and remember, no mater what you got peeps.

There's several of us pitching in to help Steve in various little ways. It's not as easy if someone were living with him full-time to help take care of things. As it is everybody's trying to do what they can around their own busy lives so that he doesn't feel so alone in all of this. He's not really asked much of anyone that I know of other than to help with taking care of his animals or get a ride to/from the hospital.

The accident report and insurance stuff is at Steve's house. Last I heard Tom would be handling some of this.

I would like to thank all the well wishes and prayers that have been sent my way after this unfortunate accident. It is a time like this that I have realized what is really important--That is friends, family and life.

An update on my condition; My hand was first operated on and will heal up in due time, there were no broken bones but there was a section about the size of a walnut that had no skin or meat on it, the rest of the top my hand is deep road rash. A plastic Surgeon cut a flap of skin from my thumb area and pulled it over to cover the damaged area. He did an amazing job.
A few days later the broken bones on the right side of my face were operated on. Originally a plate was going to be screwed under my eye as the sockett is boken and I was seeing double--this was put on hold --my vision was returning to normal. They may have to go back in at sometime once things can be re-evaluated.

My right cheek was screwed together. The jaw was smashed in on the upper and lower sides, also three teeth were smashed and only a few pieces remain--hopefully new teeth can be reconstructed in the future. My jaws were pulled, stretched, winched into place and then wired shut. This has to stay that way for about 6 weeks, damn that hurts, I am allergic to most pain killers. I have a weak pain killer that works for about an hour or so. I can only take it once every 4 hours.

The good news is I avoided running directly over the entire vehicle that turned in front of me and no-one else was hurt or worse.

I am amazed at the wonderful response from the jeep community I have, and continue to receive. Again i wish to thank those that showed so much concern for my well being. There are some that deserve a big hug from me for the help they have unselfishly lavished on me, Tom, Stefanie, Nichole, Lee and like always Sergio. These guys are always there for me, Thank You so much.
I also wish to thank you Gustavo for all the calls cheering me up when I least expect it.

If anyone wants to send me any well wishes please PM me. All I ask of you all is to remember what is important to you, show your loved ones. Show much you love them and pay forward to some one in need. We all know a neighbor or friend, even a total stranger that needs a helping hand.

Happy Holidays to all!
Steve
