Flat Towing YJ by front shackles is it possible?

I saw "towing shackles" I think on Ebay. They are designed to replace your existing shackles and have a third hole to allow the connection af a tow bar. they are triangle shaped so the the "towing hole" is slightly forward of the frame mount and the spring eye. Any ever use them? Is it a good idea to drag a YJ by its shackles?
I have boomerang shackles and I was thinking that I could attach the tow bar to the center hole in much the same way. Any ideas?

Better to be safe than sorry. I would tow the jeep on a 5k trailer with air brakes.

hmmm....seems you're forgetting about the paper thin shackle mount that is welded to the frame. i have ripped those off on multiple yj's out on the trail. just cuz the shackle is upgraded, don't overlook the "weakest link".
not a good idea in my opinion.

Ahh.... That's why I asked!
I am having some custom tow bar / recovery points welded up. I just thought the shackle idea was interesting.
Thanks,

That's what I did, Rich. I have 1" thick clevis tabs thru-welded in my bumper with 1" diameter holes in them. I had a local shop make me new mounts for the tow bar to go over the tabs, then I slide 1" roundbar through the hole and secure w/ pins.

PS - Try to devise a set-up that only you can use. Otherwise, it gets borrowed more than it gets used...

One thing a lot of people don't know about when flat towing is many states including Florida that the brakes on towed vehicle need to be connected to towing vehicle.
