Garmin recalls 1.25 million GPS units on overheating fears.
Garmin has issued a recall for 1.25 million of its GPS units. The batteries may overheat and cause a fire. There have been less than 10 reports of the batteries overheating. No injuries have been reported. The recall applies to a limited number of nuvi models. The nuvi 200W, 250W and 260W, along with the nuvi 700 series are affected.
If you own one of the GPS units, visit Garmin's site to see if your particular unit is being recalled. You will need to provide your serial number.

A friend sent me this info by private email. I checked mine and there was no recall on my 760 serial.
Did you check your model serial, do yo need to send it back?

I use my moto droid for navigation. It has not had any recalls.

Not sure I follow your point and what it has to do with this topic.
