had a blast this past weekend, other than my "not going or staying into gear" problem i now have..

tooling around in 2wd my rear u joint popped... now it wont go into 4lo or 4hi.. Sergio managed to get it into 4hi and that lasted about 10ft. when i put it into gear it pops out immediately.

this to me sounds like i have crap inside the pressure plate area and my clutch isnt fully disengaged. in my driveway i am able to put it in all gears without the clutch in....

i was not in water or mud at the time when it popped out but did my share of driving deep all day. so things might be packed in there and just need cleaned...

but why would this all of a suddenly happen as soon as the u joint popped out? odd timing if you ask me..

Rob said he would help me out on Saturday with whatever needs to be done. i have tools and what i dont have, there is a Home Depot right across the street.

SmallJeep has offered me a new t case (np231) for free. :2thumup: i just need to get it here somehow...

figured i could swap the t case and pray for the best once i clean the pressure plates.. ?? kinda a testing each out and move on to the next if it doesnt work..

if it is the tranny, i dont know what i am going to do. i dont feel comfortable opening that up. OR the t case, but thanks to SmallJeep thats taken care of..

who wants to come help me out? i can cook some burgers and have adult drinks ready. driveway is pretty shaded, fridge in garage..

all help is appreciated. i NEED to get running by July 17th... Humps...

make sure that the tc from smalljeep will work with your setup brian. i know when i was looking for a new tc i found out with my auto trans i needed a 23 spline with the long shaft. pretty sure brian has an ax-15 and smalljeep an ax-5. do they use the same tc setup? anyone?

if smalljeep's tcase came from a 6cyl then u r ok, if it came from a 4 cyl then the shaft is 21 spline and u need a 23 spline

well there's your problem. smallJeep has a 4cyl and Brian has a 6cyl. we'll need to figure out how to work around that if Brian's t-case is shot.

Brian, as far as i know i don't have any pressing engagements saturday, so i'll head over and help out (without getting lost :2thumup:). i'll be taking my dad's truck so anyone who wants to ride along is welcome. 33s and 3.07s are no fun on the highway

maybe you need to worry about just getting your jeep running and not so much about making it out to the humps on the 17th ... your priorities are all outta whack.... BTW if you need a ax15 i have one for cheap.....$500

His priorities seem to be in perfect whack to me. He's getting the Jeep running for the Humps ride. Makes perfect sense to me.

thanks for the help everyone. i am sure we will get to the bottom of this problem and get it fixed up Saturday. i had my sprinklers on under the jeep for a good 1/2 hour yesterday so it should be pretty clean for us to work in there. :2thumup:

since the splines are different on these 2 t cases.. are all the other parts interchangeable? any at all? would be nice if my chain is bad and i could use his or something to that effect.

i will be up early, getting ready for the day Saturday morning. if you do not know my address, please PM me for it.

Plus I still have those steering parts you wanted/needed.

A tc shifted that actually stays in place? On the bottom of mine there are 2 clips. 1 is broke and therefore does not stay in. I have to grab the actually part on the tcase and shift it. Don't mind though. Been doing it since I bought it.

If you have a swivel attachment that would be nice. I have everything else.

On a side note, is budlight and burgers good? Hot dogs? Mac salad? Going to publix tomorrow to get some lunch.

as early as possible to be honest. i will probably head out at 8ish to get oil and a filter, burgers from Publix, rotate the tires on the Dodge and start prepping the jeep.. so in all reality, 9am would be a good time to show but that makes you leave at 7... soooo..... whenever you wanna show up is fine with me.

Jason are you coming?
Rob what time will you be showing up?
George, you coming to help out?

Well thanks to Chris, Megan and George for showing up this morning. There was no need to swap anything over. Filled the t case, drained the water from the trans, checked for water in the oil (none) and Chris drilled out the yoke where the bolt busted. Started it up and drove as it should.

So thanks for making the drive guys and girl. And a worker that girl is too. She was all up on the motor tightening things and getting tools and such. Helped finish the burgers too.

Chris was snooping around all my parts and saw some 2" shackles and smiled smiled at me. I said go ahead and take them. 10 min later he saw some leaf springs. Take them too I said. But I only asked for him to install my new to me brake booster as a trade. Of course, that was done and I now have power brakes again.

George, sorry you went home empty handed. Lol.

Thanks again!!!

See ya Saturday!!!!
