I used to use the Garmin Mobile XT which was the Beta for the Garmin Mobile PC which is also very similar to the Nuvii software.
I used it in conjunction with the Garmin GPS 10 Bluetooth GPS Receiver and it worked great.
If you have the room to have a laptop opened on the vehicle then yea it is a good device but I would go for a Nuvii because they will fit anywhere.

This is the one I bought and used it for years but now days you can buy a nornal GPS for what you will pay just for the GPS puck. If you use the laptop for other things during your trips then I would say it's fine, but if drag it along just for this then get a normal GPS you can pick one up at TigerDirect for $60 or so.
