Since I am installing different tail lights and take up space where the license plate was on the driver's side, I decided to do this...

License plate now goes in the middle (when I install my custom made license plate holder), and a plate light on each side evens the look out. Had to go with on-the-side method because no room for on-the-top method.

I wanted to wait until completely done to post pics, which hopefully will be this weekend, but everyone's bugg'n me to get what I got onto JT!

My (sometimes) better 1/2 (when he doesn't doubt me :bat:) helped me tremendously with this job. He was definately :nervous: ... thought I was :insane:

But I bought the colors I wanted and went with the pattern I wanted anyway! This was in my head long before I had a jeep. When a woman sees in her mind what she wants...she knows and she gets it! :righton:

The lighting is poor on these shots. Some are at night in a shop with not-so-good lighting, and some are in direct sun.

The real beauty is when you see it in person!!! 3 colors. The charcoal and the silver are metallic.

Sweet! Looks awesome and quite eye catching. Any chance I can get a camera in front of it before it sees any trail action? It really looks sharp!

Exceptional paint job. The thought behind the design is unique with the woman touch. :2thumup:

I can see Trany driving it on the road so tell him to keep away from it.

Can you give us a bit more detail on the steps you took on laying down the 3 colors

Thanks...I like it pretty much myself too.

Yes clear coated it - 3 layers. It has some blemishes...it's not a professional paint job by far, and not done in a normal painting booth but what the hey, it's home grown :tooth: And down here, it's always gonna have a little dirt and mud on it.

We winged it per say and were in a hurry. Painted entire jeep with the charcoal gray metallic and let it dry. Then taped the first pattern where I wanted the silver metallic, and then taped paper over the charcoaled sections. Then painted the exposed sections with the silver metallic. Let dry for a while, then taped the pattern where I wanted the pink and then taped paper over the silver sections. Then painted the pink areas. Let that dry for a while, then hit it with the clear. Only got one small run and that was with the clear. It came out great!

In person you can see the little flecks of color in the charcoal and silver sections...the flecks have some torqoise/green colors, blues, you can even pick up some pinks. It's awesome.

Ideally, if I had a booth and all the time in the world...I would have marked the entire pattern and would not have overlapped the paints. I would have papered, etc. and butted the colors right up next to each other. I would have also let each color dry a lot longer as well.

The wells, bumpers, rollbar, etc. will be the rouch black I painted under the hood. The inside of the jeep, after sand-blasted and primed, will be the charcoal metallic thicken up to make it a little rough as well, unless I use the same color I used on the motor. I was thinking about going with the silver for inside because it would be cooler to the touch, but it's blinding bright in the sun.

Definately a fun project. We really had no clue how it was going to turn out. We figured what the heck, we had plenty of the charcoal to re-do. :amazed: At least that's what HE kept saying :biggrin1:
