Dear Parade Enthusiasts:
St. Patrick’s Day is coming!!! It’s time for the wearin’ o’ the green and celebrating all things Irish. On Saturday, March 13th, the downtown area of the City of Fort Lauderdale will transform into a sea of color and music for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The Downtown Development Authority and the City of Fort Lauderdale are proud to sponsor the Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. along Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale, then ending at Huizenga Plaza for lots of food, refreshments, live music, and family fun.
You do not have to be Irish to enjoy the music, song and dance of St. Patrick’s Day. The organizers are in search of bands, marching groups, clowns, floats and any other unique entries that will make this Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade fantastic. We are currently accepting applications to participate in the festivities. Claim your spot quick in the parade and get ready to have a grand old time on this day of worldwide Irish celebration!
Enclosed you will find a Parade Application and Float Inspection Checklist. Please submit your completed application to the address below no later than Friday, February 19, 2010. Following application review, staff will contact you with all pertinent information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Terry Rynard at (954) 828-5804 or trynard@fortlauderdale.gov. Remember, “Tis a wee bit of Irish in all of us!!” Join us in the fun and celebration.
Sincerely,
Chris Wren
Executive Director

At my parade parties I used to make green grits and green cheese biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, and Bloody Marys to start. Then I'd throw on a pot of beef stew for lunch later. Of course I always had a full bar and a keg in the courtyard that I made sure was tapped by 7 a.m.
Since we are DRIVING I doubt that adult beverages would be appreciated or allowed until after the paraded is finished and we are parked. My personal traditional beverage of choice after parking will be an Irish Kiss.
I'm still thinking about making the green cheese biscuits (Paula Deen's recipe + food coloring) + something more appropriate for lunchtime. I think a ham would be really good with the biscuits to make little sandwiches (hint hint MrSig, the ham smoking King ). Maybe I can make some "green" potato salad as the token side item. Homemade stuff made colorful (not old store bought stuff past expiration).

Dino, correct me if I am wrong here. It seems you have confused some people with not quite enough instructions.
