Kids XP is infected & Windows defender wants to fix it but it will cost us ($ I don't have) as they don't have it on Xp. Had Norton but it stopped working, can't find it. Down loaded AVG just for kicks to fix it but it won't finish loading or............Question: IF I use system restore will that fix it.

I just need a :question:

OH, tried to down load Macafee and AVG and it can not finish the down load, errors causing it to not finish. So I went back to sept 1st. on RESTORE and waiting for it to finish. Maybe it will work.

System restore seems to be working, rebooting now w/New Anti-virus software.

Here is one that should fix that for you. I run it with AVG. And this will load with no trouble.

I use this site and many of the downloads. Lava Soft is a good product and should fix it for you.
Oh and once on the site click the top one. Where it says : Click here if it does not. That will get you the download.
It is Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and works well.

If the system restore worked then get a Antivirus installed asap. You may also want to run Malwarebytes.

I am running Super Anti-spyware and I ran malware bytes. Doing a scan now.

Nothing with the NAME anti-Virus would work until I did a system restore. Guess I'm lucky.

I would still run AVG on it.
And do recommend the Ad-Aware along with it.

Come to find out the WINDOWS DEFENDER that it wanted us to pay for was a ROUGE. Seems it wanted a CC # but the PC would never loc up. Hum, glad I studied all these years under some of U on the PC end :flower2: :wub:

Can somebody sticky the following link? This has worked for me countless times in the past when people bring me their computers because they "clicked this anti virus thingy and now my computer is messed up"
