I bought a new surround sound and new tv and I need someone to wire it properly. The dvd plays and shows on the tv. The radio plays out the proper speakers. The issue I am having is I can't figure out how to get the sound from the tv channel to come out the surround sound speakers at all. I know tv isn't broadcast in surround sound but a lot of channels are stereo. I should have the install completed in a few days (speakers hung properly).

What surround receiver or system did you purchase and what TV did you get or have? Is there an HDMI slot on both devices? Do you have cable or satellite? Where do you live?

Just remember when dealing with red/white/yellow, the red and white is for audio, and the yellow is for video. Connect the red and white from the TV out, to the LINE IN or aux input of your stereo. You must have audio OUT port on your TV, (red and white). If you only have IN ports, you are out of luck. You won't be able to send the audio out of the TV into the Stereo. However you may be able to use some other device to split audio out of the RF TV signal.

Got it figured out (I think). I need to get a optic cable the connect the output from tv to input of surround sound. Thanks for the replies.
