basically you can't go that deep with computer being were it's located at least not that i'm aware of. i'm not going that deep. i can keep a eye on the water level if front end drops off into a hole.what i did was cut 4'' hole into cowl ran 4'' hose from there through bulkhead into engine compartment ran hose next a/c compressor cut 4'' hole into stock air box and made connection there. let it be known that things get very tight under cowl were a/c duct is. measure precisly you don't have much room for error. also i had to use a non a/c belt so belt would rub hose. you could probably use smaller hose and not have this problem

If you don't fight for the trails, there won't be any trails to fight for.

The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." ....

This topic that Ian posted has a lot of good info you should review. There are some heads that you can totally submerge for a few and no water would get in. If you go that deep there will be other things you are going to need to worry about... like electronics. I personally think that this is the best snorkel setup to go with if I was ever to do one.

Yeah I read that post. I do not plan on submerging my TJ or even take it in deep water if possible.I am building my CJ for that. I want to do this for 2 reasons, 1 as a precaution and 2 for the cold air. On of thing I do not like about the precleaner is that is it bulky.

Thanks,
I am thinking of cutting it down a bit so it will be lower.

i cut 2'' off of it. the cap is 10'' across and 9'' high. i can take another 1'' off before it hits windshield frame on bottom edge of cap.

You can't open the hood all the way to the windshield, but you can still open it normally--the M35's intake cap is larger than that of a Hummer but much easier to find.
Here's mine:

And as far as depth...you can always extend the tube, but really, if you're in over your windshield, you're screwed anyway.
Oh, and Willy, my fuel efficiency actually took a hit after this. Not too bad, but still--besides for me, it's worth the extra piece of mind when Corbett gets deep ; )
