I decided to add a second bulb into the bucket lights to make flat towing an easier process
get a 12v light socket and a trailer wiring harness. i like to use uninsulated terminals, solder where necessary and shrink tubing...
remove the divider from the light bucket and drill a hole large enough to accommodate the light socket...
drill a hole in the back of the bucket large enough for the wiring to pass through and install a grommet
drill the hole and install the socket so that it doesn't interfer w/ the other bulbs....
i decided to put trailer plugs on the end of each of these so they could easily be changed out later...
crimped and shrink taped for moisture resistance...
all wired up and ready to install...
installed at the rear...
now all you need to do is run the trailer harnesss to the back end connectors and plug them in...

Nice but do you carry a "Y" to hook the two together then out to the harness seeing they are seperate?

On my CJ5 I tapped off from the light wires and have the trailer harness comming out of the grille whne needed. I disconnect the batteries on the CJ when flat towing.

That looks good. I think I would have run a "Y" or two on the main harness where the lights plug into it.

I am a little late responding to this...could you provide a source for the light sockets you used?
Thanks, Donny

yeah...i cheated. i used to use magnetic lights like dan suggested so i had a set laying around. i basically canabalized them to make this work, but you can get the light socket w/ pigtails at a-zone, along with a 20' harness...
