I know it's dangerous, but I think (again, dangerous) we need a seperate category for Jeep builds so they don't get lost in the shuffle. One section to cover just builds and then people will post specific questions on those builds for there learning/trouble they might run into. This would be good for future Jeepers.

So, wazzzzzzzzz uuuuuuuuuuppppppppp!

good idea but it should go further than that. builds that only the builder can post on and a sub thread that comments and questions can be addressed on. we have had a few do builds on "our " forum but people step all over it and ruin the build thread. its should be closed except for admin/mods and the builder himself.

I think the idea that Muddin has is great but not sure if it would be possible....... If it is then that that's the way to go. This way the thread doesn't get diluted with meaningless posts.

Keeping everyone out except for the builder, installer, etc. would not be good as there is always someone who has questions on the build which will allow more detail on the install or build up.

We could make a note in the forum description (as well as a guideline inside that forum) that only questions of this nature will be allowed and all others will be deleted. If no questions than the builder, installer, etc would be the only one to keep it updated.

All installs, buildups, etc being posted in other forum areas will be moved to this new forum. These contributions are very valuable when it comes to sharing knowledge. JeepTalk is fortunate enough to have Members such as this.

If this is done, then it will have to be moderated very closely. IMO, no joking at all, no wise cracks, etc. Warnings should be issued for any infractions right away will all mods cc'd.

I agree with this. Questions and other counter ideas to the person doing the build or install brings about even more than one way to do something and could only help.

Hmmmm, this is a Jeep Forum but I do see your point. I would say that if you build something out of scrap or whatever and it can be used on a Jeep I personally would not see a problem.

Can you be more specific. :)

If this becomes a go I guess the moderators would have to discuss the proper description to follow for this forum.

I see what you mean. It looks like this new forum will soon be in place.

There is a discussion going on now between moderators to establish certain guidelines and what you brought up with regards to non Jeep that could apply to Jeep is being talked about.

The Buildup and Upgrades Forum is now live. There is a Guideline url link in the description as well as a url link of the guidelines posted on the top, inside the forum.

Moderators will be moving old and present topics that apply to this section in the next few days. Please read the posting guidelines.

I also noticed that the Guidelines recently have been modified a bit more to be informal rather than formal. This is good in order to allow a bit of fun once in a while and at the same time cleaning it up when it does not apply any longer.
