Hay everyone, I just bought a 1990 wrangler stock. My first jeep. I am a machinist by trade and normally spend my spare time building motorcycles, I'm switching that to jeeps :banghead2: Anyway, I signed up to gather all the information I can. I got a lot of reading to do.

Hello all, my name is Rick and i recently purchased my first jeep. Being a 1999 cherokee stocker 5 speed manual w/104000 miles. it's in great shape and is like a cyan red. She needs some parts replacement like the rear but i picked up a 8.8 ford mountaineer rear for her, but have to exchange the gears out. otherwise just cosmetics so far.

iRnub?

on a more serious note:

i'm shaun. i live in jupiter. i drive a '97 Cherokee country (it's only a 2WD but i still love it.) it has a 3.5" Rubicon Express super ride lift kit installed, along with cragar soft 8's and 31X10.50 BFG AT's. at this exact moment in time i am waiting for my front towpoints (hicountry offroad's shackle kit) and i plan on installing a class III hitch in the rear, as to have tow points on both ends of the vehicle.

i'm a college student (florida culinary institute, now known as lincoln culinary institute) working on my bachelor's in culinary management, i plan on going for my MBA after that.
i enjoy camping, four wheeling (4x4's and ATV's) shooting, snorkeling, drinking beer.

i could use a couple jeepin' friends in the local area, hence me being on this forum.

it's after 2 am, i'm going to bed.

If so it followed a question mark and threw me off a bit. :sos:

I'm a student way down in south Florida. Naples area. I drive an '08 Liberty with no 4wd but wanna try to keep up. I'd rather be the last one in the line gettin' hauled out the whole way than not be out at all! I'm actually looking for a lift kit that I can put on myself that won't further handicap my 2wd. Anyone know what I should be looking for or where I should post the question? Also, I'm looking for trails near the Naples/Ft. Myers area. Where should I post that query? Anyway thank for the forum and I can't wait to interact with you all!

Hello all!

My name is Phil and I live in Miami. I'm the very proud owner of a 99 Cherokee Sport 4DR that I bought in November '09. The previous owner added a SYE and RE 3.5" SuperRide kit, Firestone 31x10.5 ATs, throttle body, exhaust headers, Gibson hi-flow exhaust, and Olympic Reversa-Bars rocker protection. Since I've owned it I've made some other modifications, including new front and rear bumpers, Iron Rock double shear track bar, roof rack, and removal of some extraneous parts that really didn't do anything other than hide the natural beauty of the Jeep underneath. My winch arrives today and this weekend I'll install it and some front tow hooks and maybe even get the aux lights mounted.

I call it "The Goat."

 Phil!

Hope you have some fun on here. My hobby is photography as well. There are some other people on JT that are good at it as well.

I took the liberty to briefly check out some of your photos on your site. They are exceptional and you are a very versatile photographer.

We will need to get together at one of the meetings or events and talk some shop. What equipment are you using :rof:

I like the angle of your surfing shots, where were you standing?

If the topic gets to involved the Moderators will move it to the general off topic section. One or two responses here should be good. :bat:

Real quick then....

Thanks! I'm using an older Konica Minolta (now Sony) 7D DSLR with a handful of lenses. My next camera body will likely be a Sony a900 or whatever Sony announces to replace that model. I'm still on the fence about buying a new camera because my trusty 7D has been so good to me, even if it is only 6MP. I've splurged over the years on good lenses, but I'd like to get my hands on the Zeiss 28-70 that Sony offers in the Alpha mount.

The surfing shots are actually skimmers, so I was standing on the shore and they were usually within fifty feet of my lens (70-200/2.8). Maybe one day I'll own a 600mm lens that can pull in the more distant surfers, but I shoot them so rarely that I couldn't really justify the price commanded for glass like that.

I'll try to come to a meeting sometime and say hi. :)

We have the same theory, just because a new super duper model comes out it does not stop your present camera from taking pictures. It's all about who is in the driver seat. :2thumup: Some of my wall hangers were taken with a 4mp Canon 1D, it's the size of the chip imager that counts, not the mp (yes they do help on the crop sometimes).
