Anyone know if a CJ5 hood would fit a CJ7? If so, are there any other parts that could be swapped?

Thanks for the reply. :1thumb:

I thought this would have been a stupidly easy question. I guess i'll have to rely on the power of GOOGLE.

as far as i know, it depends on the years of the cj5 and 7. older (pre amc) had some short nose cj5's if they are both amc models they should interchange the only real diffrence is the tub and wheel base. most other parts will interchange as long as its not the drive shafts. again everything depends on years, so maybe post the years of both jeeps and what you want to interchange and we can go from there. :1thumb: :righton:

If you keep the years pretty close most common parts should interchange. The main difference I can think of using the years you listed above is they changed the windshield wiper motor from the outside to inside. So you can see that you should keep the year spread as close as possible. Your best bet is like what Willy did above and browse catalogs and see what parts they offer for the years of the two CJs you have that will fit both.

do you just have an extra cj5 hood laying around and a cj7 without a hood? I'd still like to know "WHY"?

Maybe he wants to replace the hood of his cj7 and his first option for replacement is a cj5 hood....

That's exactly the reason. I should be picking up a CJ7 this week and the hood is trashed. I also have a line on a CJ5 hood that is in good shape. See coonbuster, it's really not too wild an idea after all.

After browsing the catalogs i don't think it will fit. It seams that the hoods changed in '72. Not in a rush to fix the body yet since i'll be doing a frame-up while installing my Chevy drivetrain. Body work will be at the bottom of the list.
