Homemade Y/J Snorkel

with alittle 2" pvc some belzona and a few clamps and 3.5 hours of work mostly cuttin the dreaded hole .........here are the pics of my homemade po'mans functional snorkel system ........not as pretty as a riverraider .....but who cares it works .

and of couse what jeep job would be complete without your skinned bloody knuckles .

so alittle flatblack paint a few clamps ,some PVC a drill ,and a hole saw and there ya have it( 1 PO MANS Y/J snorkel system )doing it this way with a staight in flow i can switch back over to factory air when ever i wish .. :empathy:

total cost in materials ..............................$41.00 and of course some .................. :wack: from the Boss herself for waking her up a 7:00am to the pleasant soothing sound of a holesaw on the drill and shreaking metal ............................

Looking good. Is that running to a carb?

Are U gonna put a drain plug/screw @ the 90*?

yep runnin straight in to the carb bypassed the air box totally seems to get a nice flow of air this way ( i did have to replace the factory breather hose with a longer 1 from pepboys made snakin it around things a breeze ...................and yeah im gonna drain plug it on monday . i gotta dig in the plumbers box of toys at work and get a plug .

Let us know if you have to re-adjust the carb due to the snorkel.

is there some reason why i would have to adjust it ??? ..............i took it out and ran it 10 miles seems to be breathin and runnin fine
( no obstructions to speak of as of yet ) this is the first time i ever messed with a direct feed ............on the T/J i modified the airbox .

correction....................i got the breather hose at autozone for 10bucks .........pepboys didnt have it . my bad .

i do not have a drain. on rainy day startup. just let it idle for a minute or so and water gone :naughty:
