I got my 1st gear, 1st and 2nd synco, 1st shitting fork, some rings, some brass ring replaced and the tranny rebuild at Dino's. Then I installed a RR hi-lift mount, some seat risers, and 80% installed a river raider snorkel. Oh and I made a new bracket for my CB antenna.

Currently I just have a bunch of parts I'm trying to make into a Jeep.

Well just look @ my project.

P.S. ALEX from Caloosa Jeepers twisted off his U-joint rear yoke straps today on trail 14. Luckily NAPA had them & he was able to get the two broken studs out & replace both U-joints.

I'm sure his wife will post'em up.

P.S.S. Don't listen to him about who was the spotter :2thumup:

Fri. night I fabbed a heavy duty screen cover for my snorkel.
I used my secretaries pencil holder---I kept finding it on the floor---I cut the top and bottom off then cut it length wise.
Stretched it flat folded it over the opening of the snorkel, cut to fit, screwed it on and it's good to go---it was all ready painted black and matches well.
Mr. Sigg take note---no messy silicone needed---how's the propane holding out?

This should really go under "What was done to your Jeep this Year" topic because I have been working on this wiring project off and on for almost a year. This past weekend I finished putting my dash back together finally. I originally bought the cooltech, while it is a nice switch panel I decided to go custom. I am happy with the way my switches came out. I ended up with front and rear lockers and locker leds, fogs, long throws, rear backup lights, two spare switches already wired to relays and the in cab winch controls. All connonections are crimped, soldered, liquid electrical taped, heat shrinked and tested with a multi-meter becuase I never want to have to open this can of worms back up and trouble shoot. This weekend I will finish the rest of the conections under the hood.

Enjoy,
Pete

Hi all you Jeepsters! I bought a YJ for my son this week,
the first one I've owned. It's an 1988 that had quite a bit
of work done including a new rebuild on the I6.
Tranny is going and fortunately I found Dino at TransTech.

I bought 4 shocks and when I went to install them couldn't
find the ones in the back. Thought maybe this Jeep didn't
need shocks in back......then upon closer inspection I see
that the shock mount on the axle was gone!

Spent Sat morning at Dino's to get that fixed and get the
evaluation of what needs to be done to the driveline. Met
Skinner1 who was helpful with advice and the install of the
shock. pix are here, scroll down http://www.soflaride...ptaintommy.html

Hope to see all of you guys around on some of these events.

I'm president of the Soflariders jetski club. We
go on some fun rides all over Florida. Many of the members
have ATV's and other off road trucks. One of our best spots
to ride is the Kissimme River west of Okeechobee. Check out
our website under past events to see some of our rides.

Welcome--tomgtv-- You met some good people this weekend, hope to see you around.
This weekend I beat the living crap out of YJ.
I had my son and his friend ride with me somewhere in central Fl.
There were many of us there--had tons of fun-- I'll clean and check for damage today.

after playing around with a few different designs i been working on to address the issue of no locking security in my Y/J i got with my buddy at work who is the metal fab guy and we came up with a simple design modification to be installed in the cargo area to secure its contents when the rear cargo door is closed and locked .

i will post pics when i get it installed .

now i just gotta bolt it into place . plus the flat top across makes a good sturdy surface to mount something on in the future .

its not exactly 100% secure but its works as a nice deterant . :2thumup:

So I had some clutch carnage at Hardrock...
Story goes like this.. after a half day of wheeling I was in 4 Lo 2 descending down a moderate hill using engine braking. The engine was revved around 4500 rpm.
A rather loud BANG sounded and the rig free wheeled down the rest of the hill.

There was smell of burnt clutch but no real smoke as I have seen from other rigs before. I have never had a problem with the clutch, never overheated it before... never a hint of trouble.

The clutch pedal didn't feel right and I had no power to the tranny at all... none.

This is what was found...

What is left of the clutch material

Looks like a rats nest

Whats left of clutch disk sitting on the pressure plate

Clutch Disk

It came apart with such force as a piece of the metal clutch housing went completely through the thickest part of the tranny bell housing...

It was surprising that it came apart on such a moderate decline... but thankfully thats when it did.

So rig is at the shop getting new Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch.. its actually the first one Centerforce is producing for the JK.. they are building it now, guess I am the guinea pig.

And this Currie Rock Rock 60..

With ARB and 5.38's

And new Nitto 40x13.5x17 Mud Grapplers

Then off to Moose's shop for the rear EVO Armor and new Off Road Evolution tire carrier, the same exact one shown at SEMA.

Also recently put on the new Mile Marker MOFSET V-10 Winch and this Red Rock Fab front bumper with skid..

So I've been busy...

Sorry to hear about the clutch. Hope you had the opportunity to get some wheeling done before it went on you. I planned to make it up there but work got in the way again. Can't wait to see that axle in your jeep. Know what I mean. :1thumb:

Stripped the seats out of the CJ and spent a couple of hours dealing with rusty body mount bolts but finaly got the body off. The whole process took 8 hours... Not bad for a one man job.
