I am working on getting some new Smiles/Emoticons for JeepTalk.
Since this does not require coding I guess I was given the job... not sure what that meant. :good: :good:

My goal is to have only high resolution Smilies not like you see in other forums.

I've not added any as of yet but I have changed some previous ones we had. Only added these few to show some examples.

Here is an example of a horrible resolution and not acceptable for the quality of JeepTalk:

Posted Image Posted Image

Here are some similar ones I have added, not sure if I will take them down because I'm working on a nice collection that I have not uploaded yet.

:drive:
:wack:
:yahoo:

You can see the quality of some of these vs the ones that have been posted by other users.

If you have any ideas while I'm working on this let me know.

Note: Do not use the ones I will be posting in this topic yet because they might be removed until I finalize things, you will see Red Xs on your post if you use them and I remove them later.

I know, I'm having a hard time but the list can get quite long. :yahoo: :drive:

For example, I can keep the two head bangers but I might get rid of the last wackfish and only keep the first two of the wacking sticks...

not sure yet. :good:

I know it's more work, but it is possible to alphabetize the smilies on the list? It'd make it easier to locate them faster when you know what you are looking for.
SMILES - former SFJC member - no modifications.
Lulu - Black & Tan German Shepherd - can read: Fun with Lulu, RIP May 25, 2021
Blue - '01 TJ Wrangler Sport - 2.5" lift on 33's sold when I moved to Italy

Frieda - Our first "Jeep" in Italy was a '98 Honda Civic, but Lulu didn't know it was really a car.
Rosie - '11 Jeep Compass Limited

I'd say if you planing on removing some then keep this :headbang: headbang but try to get it to bang the head faster if possible

Actually I think I might keep both but this one in particular looks fine and more meaningful than if I speed up making it erratic like the one posted in low resolution.

This is something beyond my talents of Coding. Admin had checked into this in the past and it was doable but time consuming in Code. But let me ask as I will be smoking a peace pipe with Admin... if we made this happen, what order do you suggest we put them in... by name :tongue1:

I happen to like and use some of these you listed from time to time. I did get rid of some already before I add the new ones but I'm still looking into taking more out. The problem comes in if we take out one that has been used prior or continue to be used is that the old posting that might be referred will have a red X where these emoticons were used.

Now here is a question for you since you brought this up. Will you be willing to report to a Moderator every time we see an Emoticon red X so they can get rid of it instead of ignoring it. :naughty: I'm one for keeping things clean. :welcome:

Still working on this on and off on my spare time, not as easy as I thought. I only want to do this once and not address this for a while unless we add or delete one or two. There are quite a few nice ones that even though we might only use them once in a while they would be nice to have. Once I place them all on the list we can get some feed back on what is lame or not. I've gotten rid of some already. Kind of scary going into the heart of JT to do all of this but it does not seem so bad as this section has some type of graphic menu.

I had some questions on my prior post, still waiting on some feedback. :)

I smoked a peace pipe over the phone with Admin over the weekend and he was kind enough to agree to spend some time in trying to make the Code work to be able to have some type of order which means I will owe him dinner. I'm still thinking about this though.

Not a problem Lrd, glad you have seen the light! :1grin: Will leave some of the square emoticons for squary users.

Btw, I plan to keep the two head bangers and the two whack sticks. Did this just for you, they are the only ones that I have loaded on the list that you can use. All the others will not be loaded until I'm done and can do it all at once. I still have way to much and not enough time, work seems to take priority and it sucks. Always good to sneak away during break.

By name would be the way I'd go. I think it would be easier to locate once you're familiar with what the smilie is called rather than trying to group them into different categories.

Ok, I see your point. I will rename some that match so they can follow each other with similarity. For example all grin, dance, baby, signs, etc. There will some misc. and I would have to figure out how to manage these. :2thumup:

Mr. Admin is trying to work the code so that we can do this. I'm sure he would have it finished before I'm even done it he can actually do it because sometimes software Code can be tricky. We would not want anyone here to go without any Smilies... :innocent:

People, take a look through the list we presently have, I've deleted some that were suggested and changed out the looks of a few that were already there. There will always be a few that some will say they don't like and others will say they like that one. I will look at the majority consensus.

Btw, what does everyone think about this stirring pot Posted Image vs the one we have now. I want to find out if TranyDoc was correct.

I agree. The other one, at first glance, I would just read it as a halloween witch and not so much as stirring the pot.

Still trying to group this on and off, wait till you see the new ones. The listing will be a bit large. I've deleted some old ones but the list that you see there now I plan to leave and just add the new ones.

Btw, I have some really nice ones on instruments. Like a band, piano, base, drum roll, etc. I think this might be fun. Have some girl ones too for the ladies.

Slowly getting there. I found out by accident that the database limit is 400 by crashing the browser and code of the emoticon folder on JeepTalk.

No worries all is working thanks to an SOS call to Mr. Admin. :photo:

You will not see any new ones because I have to delete and still going through them, have to really think the ones that will mainly be used even for a rainy day.

Here is a trivia question. How many Emoticons are there in our current "show all" data base now :welcome:

I can no longer count them---when I click on "show all" I lose them all and it returns to where I was in my response.
If any one has any ideas on how to fix this let me know, it worked for a short time but quit working for some reason.
Thank You in advance.

Works for me and others. When you Click "Show All" do you see the pop up window :welcome: If not, your browser is blocking it.

If you are using IE7 right click on the browser icon on your desktop, got to properties. You will see a security tab on top, click on it, go to trusted sites and click the site tab.

In the "Add this website to the zone" box add the following:
http://*.jeeptalk.net
http://jeeptalk.net

See if that helps. I used to get my pop up help and post screens blocked from JT before I did this.

Btw, is no one going to answer my Trivia question.. :photo:

Ran into a few problems very late last night and my buddy the Admin had to come and save me again (good thing he was up  :beach:). Apparently I can not be working in the back end of this thing and have the listing "show all" going at the same time. It continues to crash my browser. He upped the limit on the MySql database of JT to handle a bit more of the larger size storage file... for those of you who know what that means. I'm just now understanding some of this.

I've added some additional emoticons. Have more to come but I will have to do it slow and make sure I do not crash the listing. There is a possibility that I might have to remove some to make room for others. For now be sure only to use those that you think will stay.

I need a favor from some of you. Keep checking the list box under "show all" from time to time. It takes a while to load because there are so many being added. If there are any problems report them here. When you test, clear your browser cache each time as the screen will be faster to load after the initial load because it remains in your browser memory. You don't have to do this but maybe once or twice if you have time.

Another thing to look for is the emoticons that are more to be used on a regular basis (not the ones for a rainy day). These can be placed in the drop down listing before you click on the "show all" I would like to get an idea of the ones some of you think belong there. When you respond please get to the point, I don't want this topic becoming very long and hard for me to follow.

Understand that I'm trying to please most that have requested privately to me some of these. Keep in mind that there is only so much we can do here as the list has grown from 150+ to 350+. I will get there slowly, family and work time do come first.

Gentlemen,

This goes for TranyDoctor, TallJeep and Rambo. I am in a support topic trying to get ideas and opinions to some of my questions and do the work needed so all of you can have some fun as I see that you are already doing. Can you please make my life a little easier with your off topic and start a topic over in the ChitChat section "New Smilies" and have at it over there so as not to ruin this topic. :banddrum: :welder: :drama:

If not... :babysleep: So far you guys are :bandpiano:

Don't make me split the topic over to ChitChat. Come on Slackers, cut me some slack. :cheergirls: :bandbanjo:

Thank you for the count. :gay: I have about another 100 but not sure when I'll get to it. :give5:

I will smoke a peace pipe with Admin to see if the database can handle another hundred. They are on the server now but I need to go through them and make sure that I'm not going to mess up anything. :poke:

It was suggested to me that maybe we can shut down JeepTalk for about 6 days so we can do this faster instead of on the fly. Maybe this would be the best way.

It was suggested to me that maybe we can shut down JeepTalk for about 6 days so we can do this faster instead of on the fly. Maybe this would be the best way.

Really? :poke: :gay: I wouldn't recommend it :give5:

Before I saw that there was some issues with the "show all" while the additions are going on I had a very strange effect happen yesterday at work. All of my working windows in about 5 other programs including the internet browser went haywire. Using ctrl+alt+del didn't help either to stop it. Finally it calmed down and I was able to close up some windows. Could be the dutch computer I work on. :give5:
