Joe, looking good (except for the square headlights), what's the length of your trailer

Any particular reason you have the side rails...

Hi Jim, sorry for the delay. I haven't poked my head in here lately.

Thanks - the deck of the trailer is 16'. The rails were on it when I got it ~11 years ago. Its basically a converted tandem axle utility trailer that I use mainly for my Jeep. I got it cheap - but naturally it is a cheap trailer. :D

Thanks.

BTW: This is another tow rig I picked up yesterday.

Its an '06 Ram MegaCab 4x2, 5.9L CTD. It does double duty as a work truck.

2006 was the last good year of the Ram imop. The 5.9 is just too good. How are the miles on it?
Where are you picking up these deals, what's the count now... 22 trucks.

Yep, my last two Dodges have been MegaCabs, the one before that was a QuadCab.

My '07 3500 was built early in the year and has a 5.9L as well. Later in the '07 year (I'm not sure when) they came with the 6.7L. In other words, the '07's came with 5.9's and 6.7's.

The '06 2500 has ~57,000 miles while my '07 3500 has ~16,000 miles.

I found the 2500 on craigslist San Diego under the dealer section while doing a search. I wasn't really looking at buying from a dealer, but the owner of the truck has a dealers license so technically he has to sell it accordingly since he ran a dealer plate on it.

Bringing up my thread from the grave....

Well, as things go, I sold the 06' 2500 CTD Megacab last week.

I went ahead & picked up a '17 Ram 3500 CTD 4x4 to replace it for tow duties. This beast drives really nice for a truck.

I can see that you are a creature of comfort. I want to be like you when I grow up. :bounce:

Enjoy and let us know how that new engine performs from the old trusty 5.9.

I've been looking for a used camper for what seems like forever, and I finally found one that fits the bill. It's a Lance Max 1181 (11'6" floor, 19'7" length, ~3,690# dry) single 11' slide. It's a beast.

It was easy enough to do myself so I installed rear Airlift air bags, Torklift frame mount kit, Torklift quick acting tie downs, Reese Titan 4' Class V extension and 4' electrical pigtail extension so I can safely tow.

It gets ~16-17mpg towing my relatively light bass boat. Probably ~13-14mpg with the YJ on my trailer.

I'm planning on taking it to Niagara Falls, Canada next month, then to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and Prey, Montana in October. Should be good times.

Nice setup.

Used to have one of those when I was traveling all over a few years ago. Did not have a side, wish I did.

The only thing that I had to watch out for was the cross winds on I40 heading west. :biggrin1: :obsessed:

Yep, them crosswinds can be murder. :nervous:

I made the track across the US and also visited my Dad in Missouri in early October. Truck & camper did great!

I poured a 12'x65'x4" driveway extension last week for the camper & bass boat to sit on. Cement should be good to drive the heavy truck & camper on by tomorrow so I can move them from blocking one of my garage doors.

It'll be a tight squeeze with the camper jack feet being ~9' wide and the pad 12'. I'm hoping to get it ~1' from the home and have ~2' to the outer edge. We'll see....

Yep, I've had a 2014 Honda Pioneer 700 SxS since October 2014. I Love it and drive it almost every day. I installed a top, windshield, 4500# Warn winch, and a 6' Warn plow & easy removal attachment. 3 quick disconnect pins (like for swaybars) & the plow comes right off. It operates up & down by the winch. Side angle is controlled by lifting a lever and adjusting it in ~15* increments.

I looked high & low before getting the Honda Pioneer 700. It was a best buy for what I wanted and came with excellent features. It'll do almost 50mph.

About the only thing I don't like is that the rear axle has no differential. The rear tires will leave marks everywhere while turning and will tear up grass so I'm more careful & don't turn too sharp when I'm on a lawn.

When put in 4wd, it's actually 3wd. However, slide the shifter over a notch & it's true 100% locked in 4wd. Climbs rocks, tree stumps etc like crazy & goes really well thru snow. It also comes with a factory flat skid front to rear that's excellent. All the weight is down super low so it does fantastic off camber.

I have a off road track on my property and another in my neighborhood I regularly take in on.

I let the cement cure for ~2 weeks before I put the camper on it since the weather has been kind of cold.
